Included in this week’s round-up are posts that look at what it means to connect with someone online, and what comes after; case studies on how journalists can best use Facebook; advice on stimulating activity in an online community; and Ustream’s great new Facebook app. Whether you use social networks, email, even snail mail (I still send paper thank you cards and books to my contacts), staying in touch after getting in touch is the secret to making connections that work. Vadim Lavrusik: How journalists can make use of Facebook Pages Though using Pages can be a great tool in building an audience that helps you in your reporting, it also enables journalists to cultivate an active community of readers. Concentrate on getting a few members coming back. Get a few discussions going and build from there. Ustream’s New Facebook App Offers Powerful Storytelling Potential Ustream’s Facebook app, launched this week, enables broadcasters to readily connect their Ustream channel within their page. The free service can be added in a matter of minutes to reach a global audience of any size, according to the news release. Did you read something interesting this week, that you think I should see?
